- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to: Specifications (414-00 Battery and Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
- Remove the engine cover. For additional information, refer to: Engine Cover - TDV8 3.6L Diesel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
- Recover the air conditioning (A/C) refrigerant. For additional information, refer to: Air Conditioning System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging (412-00 Climate Control System - General Information, General Procedures).
- Remove the auxiliary battery tray. For additional information, refer to: Auxiliary Battery Tray (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).

WARNING:
Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.
- Partially drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to: Cooling System Partial Draining, Filling and Bleeding (303-03E Engine Cooling - TDV8 3.6L Diesel, General Procedures).
- Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to: Floor Console (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).
- Remove both cowl side trim panels. For additional information, refer to: Cowl Side Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

Driver side: Position the dynamic response control module aside for access.

Release the door check strap from the A-pillar.

NOTE:
The door is still attached by its harness at this stage.
With assistance, release and support the door assembly.

Release the electrical connector from the A-Pillar.
- Carefully release, then slide the latch to locate in the indents, arrowed.
-
Remove the door.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the LH front seat. For additional information, refer to: Front Seat (501-10, Removal and Installation).
- Remove the RH front seat. For additional information, refer to: Front Seat (501-10, Removal and Installation).

Disconnect the steering column intermediate shaft from the steering column.
- Note the fitted position.
- Remove the special bolt and discard the nut.

Disconnect the 2 drain tubes from the heater housing.
-
Position the heater housing center ducts aside for access.
-
Remove the 2 bolts from the instrument panel center bracket.
-
Remove the instrument panel center speaker grille.
-
Remove the instrument panel upper section to body bolt.
- Remove the plenum chamber panel. For additional information, refer to: Plenum Chamber (412-01 Air Distribution and Filtering, Removal and Installation).

Remove the instrument panel carrier to bulkhead bolt.
-
Disconnect the 2 heater hoses from the bulkhead.
- Release the high and low-pressure A/C lines from the body.

CAUTION:
Make sure that all openings are sealed. Use new blanking caps.
Disconnect the high and low-pressure A/C lines from the bulkhead.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seals.

Remove the 2 adapter panels.
- Reposition the covers to access the 4 nuts.

Release the 3 ground cables from the driver side lower A-pillar.
-
Disconnect the 5 electrical connectors from the driver side lower A-pillar.
-
Release the 2 ground cables from the passenger side lower A-pillar.
- Disconnect the 5 electrical connectors from the passenger side lower A-pillar.

Disconnect the heater motor electrical connector.
-
Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from central junction box (CJB) .
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the instrument panel center reinforcement.

If installed, disconnect the instrument panel center reinforcement fibre optic cables.
- Driver side: Remove the heater housing to bulkhead bolt.
-
Passenger side: Remove the heater housing to bulkhead bolt.
- Remove both upper A-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05, Removal and Installation).

With assistance, remove the instrument panel.
- With assistance, install the instrument panel carrier.
- Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb.ft).
- Install both upper A-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05, Removal and Installation).
- Passenger side: Install the heater housing to bulkhead bolt and tighten to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
- Driver side: Install the heater housing to bulkhead bolt and tighten to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
- Connect the instrument panel center reinforcement fibre optic cables.
- Connect the instrument panel center reinforcement electrical connectors.
- Connect the CJB electrical connectors.
- Connect the heater motor electrical connector.
- Connect the electrical connectors to the passenger side lower A-pillar.
- Connect the ground cables to the passenger side lower A-pillar.
- Tighten the nuts to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
- Connect the electrical connectors to the driver side lower A-pillar.
- Connect the ground cables to the driver side lower A-pillar.
- Tighten the nuts to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
- Install the adapter panels.
- Tighten the nuts to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).

NOTE:
Remove and discard the blanking caps.
Secure the A/C lines to the bulkhead.
- Clean the component mating faces.
- Install new O-ring seals.
- Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
- Secure the A/C lines to the body.
- Tighten the nut to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
- Connect the bulkhead heater hoses.
- Clean the component mating faces.
- Install the instrument panel carrier to bulkhead bolt and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb.ft).
- Install the plenum chamber panel. For additional information, refer to: Plenum Chamber (412-01 Air Distribution and Filtering, Removal and Installation).
- Install the instrument panel upper section to body bolt and tighten to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
- Install the speaker grille.
- Install the instrument panel center bracket bolts and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb.ft).
- Attach the heater housing center ducts.
- Connect the drain tubes to the heater housing.
- Connect the steering column intermediate shaft.
- Install the special bolt and tighten the new nut to 22 Nm (16 lb.ft).
- With assistance, install the door assembly.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Secure the electrical connector.
- Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
- Attach the door check strap to the 'A' pillar.
- Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
- Secure the dynamic response control module.
- Tighten the 2 bolts to 4 Nm (3 lb.ft).
- Install the cowl side trim panels. For additional information, refer to: Cowl Side Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
- Install the floor console. For additional information, refer to: Floor Console (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).
- Install the RH front seat. For additional information, refer to: Front Seat (501-10, Removal and Installation).
- Install the LH front seat. For additional information, refer to: Front Seat (501-10, Removal and Installation).
- Refill the cooling system. For additional information, refer to: Cooling System Partial Draining, Filling and Bleeding (303-03E Engine Cooling - TDV8 3.6L Diesel, General Procedures).
- Install the auxiliary battery tray. For additional information, refer to: Auxiliary Battery Tray (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).
- Recharge the A/C system. For additional information, refer to: Air Conditioning System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging (412-00 Climate Control System - General Information, General Procedures).
- Install the engine cover. For additional information, refer to: Engine Cover - TDV8 3.6L Diesel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
