Removal
WARNING:

Observe due care when working near a hot exhaust system.

  1. WARNING:

    Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the transmission support crossmember. For additional information, refer to: Transmission Support Crossmember (502-02 Full Frame and Body Mounting, Removal and Installation).

    Release the RH catalytic converter from the exhaust system.
      • Remove the 2 nuts.

    Release the LH catalytic converter.
      • Release the exhaust clamp.
  5. NOTE:

    RH illustration shown, LH is similar.

    Remove the LH catalytic converter.
      • Remove the 3 bolts.
      • Remove and discard the gasket.
Installation
  1. NOTE:

    Do not tighten the clamp at this stage.

    Install the LH catalytic converter.
      • Clean the component mating faces.
      • Install a new gasket.
      • Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb.ft).
  2. Secure the RH catalytic converter.
      • Clean the components mating faces.
      • Tighten the nuts to 50 Nm (37 lb.ft).
  3. Secure the LH catalytic converter.
      • Tighten the nut to 50 Nm (37 lb.ft).
  4. Install the transmission support crossmember. For additional information, refer to: Transmission Support Crossmember (502-02 Full Frame and Body Mounting, Removal and Installation).
