REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Removal
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to: Specifications (414-00 Battery and Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
  2. WARNING:

    Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Recover the air conditioning (A/C) refrigerant. For additional information, refer to: Air Conditioning System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging (412-00 Climate Control System - General Information, General Procedures).
  4. Remove the hood latch panel. For additional information, refer to: Hood Latch Panel (501-27 Front End Sheet Metal Repairs, Removal and Installation).
  5. CAUTION:

    Make sure that all openings are sealed. Use new blanking caps.

    Disconnect the 2 coolant pipes from the auxiliary radiator.
      • Release the 2 quick release connectors.

    Remove the auxiliary radiator.
      • Remove the 2 bolts.
  7. CAUTION:

    Make sure that all openings are sealed. Use new blanking caps.

    Disconnect the 2 A/C refrigerant lines.
      • Remove the 2 bolts.
      • Remove and discard the 2 O-ring seals.
  8. NOTE:

    LH illustration shown, RH is similar.

    Release the air duct from the cooling module.
      • Remove the 2 screws.

    Release the A/C refrigerant lines bracket.
      • Remove the bolt.

    Remove the condenser core.
      • Remove the 4 bolts.
  11. CAUTION:

    Make sure that all openings are sealed. Use new blanking caps.

    NOTE:

    Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

    Remove the receiver drier.
      • Remove the receiver drier support bracket clamp.
      • Remove the bolt.
      • Remove the clamp.
      • Remove and discard the 2 O-ring seals.
Installation
  1. NOTES:
    • Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil.

    • Remove and discard the blanking caps.

    Install the receiver drier.
      • Install new O-ring seals.
      • Install the clamps.
      • Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
  2. Install the condenser core.
      • Tighten the bolts to 8 Nm (6 lb.ft).
  3. Secure the A/C refrigerant lines bracket.
      • Tighten the bolt to 8 Nm (6 lb.ft)
  4. Secure the air duct to the cooling module.
      • Tighten the screws.
  5. NOTES:
    • Remove and discard the blanking caps.

    • Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil.

    Connect the A/C condenser refrigerant lines.
      • Install new O-ring seals.
      • Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
  6. Install the auxiliary radiator.
      • Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
  7. NOTE:

    Remove and discard the blanking caps.

    Connect the coolant pipes to the auxiliary radiator.
  8. Install the hood latch panel. For additional information, refer to: Hood Latch Panel (501-27 Front End Sheet Metal Repairs, Removal and Installation).
  9. Recharge the A/C system. For additional information, refer to: Air Conditioning System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging (412-00 Climate Control System - General Information, General Procedures).
  10. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to: Specifications (414-00 Battery and Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
  11. Check and top up the coolant.
