Removal
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to: Specifications (414-00 Battery and Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
  2. E53843
    Remove the license plate lamp.
      • Release the clip.
      • Disconnect the electrical connector.
      • Repeat the above procedure for the other lamp.
  3. E53844
    Remove the liftgate glass release switch.
      • Release the 2 clips.
      • Disconnect the electrical connector.
  4. E53845
    Remove the liftgate outer lower trim panel.
      • Remove the 8 Torx screws.
  5. E53846
    Remove the liftgate glass outer trim stiffner and backing panel.
      • Remove the 15 nuts.
      • Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
Installation
  1. Install the liftgate glass outer trim stiffner and backing panel.
      • Tighten the nuts to 10 Nm (7 lb.ft).
  2. Install the liftgate glass outer lower trim panel.
      • Tighten the Torx screws.
  3. Install the liftgate glase release switch.
      • Connect and secure the electrical connector.
      • Carefully secure the clips.
  4. Install the license plate lamp.
      • Connect and secure the electrical connector.
      • Carefully secure the clips.
      • Repeat the above procedure for the other lamp.
  5. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to: Specifications (414-00 Battery and Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
