REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Removal
NOTE:

Some illustrations may show the body removed for clarity.


The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles

  1. WARNING:

    Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  3. Disconnect the battery positive cable.
  4. Remove the rear bumper cover.
  5. Remove the spare wheel and tire.
  6. NOTES:

    • If equipped.

    • The procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    Remove both rear body mount dampers.
  7. NOTE:

    The procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    Remove both rear body mass dampers.
  8. NOTE:

    The procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    Remove the rear bumper cover lower brackets. Remove the 2 scrivets.
  9. E145863
    Remove the rear bumper foam pads.

The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles built up to 2006

  1. NOTE:

    The procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    Remove the bracket. Remove the 2 nuts.
  2. NOTE:

    The procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    Remove the bracket. Remove the bolt.

The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles built 2007 onwards

  1. NOTES:

    • Vehicles built from 07MY onwards have welded rear body mass damper brackets, these must be removed and replaced with the bolt-on style brackets.

    • The procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    • Mig weld. (Right-hand is symmetrically opposite to left-hand).

    Using suitable tools, remove and discard the 4 rear body mass damper brackets.
Installation

The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles

  1. E152326
    Install the rear crossmember.
  2. E145863
    Install the rear bumper foam pads.
  3. NOTE:

    The procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    Install the rear bumper cover lower brackets. Secure the 2 scrivets.

The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles built 2007 onwards

  1. NOTE:

    The procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    Install the stiffener inside the chassis.

The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles

  1. NOTE:

    The procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    Install the bracket. Tighten the bolt.
    Torque: 175Nm
  2. NOTE:

    The procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    Remove the bracket. Tighten the M14 nut. Tighten the M10 nut.
    Torque
    M14 nut: 175Nm
    M10 nut: 45Nm
  3. NOTES:

    • The procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    • Left-hand shown, right-hand similar.

    Install both rear body mass dampers. Tighten the M8 bolts. Tighten the M10 bolts
    Torque
    M8 bolts: 25Nm
    M10 bolts: 40Nm
  4. NOTES:

    • If equipped.

    • The procedure must be carried out on both sides.

    Install both rear body mount dampers. Tighten the bolts.
    Torque: 45Nm
  5. Install the spare wheel and tire.
  6. Install the rear bumper cover.
  7. Connect the battery positive cable. Tighten the battery terminal.
    Torque: 5Nm
  8. Connect the battery ground cable.
