Removal
  1. WARNING:

    Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the front wheel.
  3. Loosen the outer tie-rod end ball joint retaining nut.
  4. Loosen the outer tie-rod end lock nut.
  5. E47918
    Remove and discard the tie rod end retaining nut. Using the special tool, release the tie-rod end ball joint from the wheel knuckle.

    Remove the outer tie-rod end, note the number of turns for installation.
  7. Remove the outer tie-rod end lock nut.
  8. E80589
    Remove and discard the tie straps. Remove the steering gear boot.
  9. E80590
    Loosen the nut. Remove the inner tie-rod end.
Installation
  1. Install the inner tie-rod end. Tighten the nut.
    Renew Part: Tie-rod end nut Quantity: 1.
    Torque: 100Nm
  2. Install the steering gear boot. Install new tie straps.
    Renew Part: Steering gear boot clips(s) Quantity: 1.
  3. Install the outer tie-rod end lock nut.
  4. Install the tie rod end, note the number of turns until adjacent to the locknut.
  5. CAUTION:

    To prevent damage to the tie rods, use an additional wrench when loosening or tightening the components.

    NOTE:

    Clean the component mating faces

    Connect the tie-rod end ball joint.
    Torque
    M12: 76Nm
    M14: 150Nm
  6. Tighten the tie-rod locking nut. Clean the component mating faces. Tighten the nut.
    Torque: 55Nm
  7. Install the front wheel. Tighten the wheel nuts.
    Torque: 140Nm
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Using only four wheel alignment equipment approved by Land Rover, check and adjust the wheel alignment.
